hello people..

For some time now, I've been noticing that the oil pressure light flickers at times when i'm stopped at a light for example... I am no mechanic but logically I gather its not normal... what does the flickering of the light mean and how do I go about fixing it... thank you in advance for your time..

 

have you checked the oil?

 

I just had an oil change last month.. I also had the oil filter changed of course... It was doing the same thing prior to the oil change.. but continues to do so after the oil change as well....I have no idea how to go about the problem.. any help would be appreciated... thanks

 

best case scenario is a bad sending unit.

 

I've had this problem, also. I noticed this happens when the RPM drops below 500 RPM. I also seem to be losing oil but I can't find a leak, no signs on the ground of a leak and the mechanics I've taken it to cannot find one. Obviously the idle might be a problem but the idle usually doesn't drop below 500 except when its hot. There has to be someone out there who has a better idea on how to remedy this. I don't want to just raise the idle because then it will idle close to 1x just to prevent the light but that don't explain the missing oil.

 

i dont think that your rpm should be dropping that low. do you have high mileage?

 

Hook up an accurate external oil pressure test gauge.
