Default Help - Constant missfires on 97 stratus 4cyl 2.4L

Have a 4cyl 2.4L 97 Stratus with 185,000 miles. Yes, I said 185,000 miles. Have had typical 97 Stratus issues over the years; Transmission, Head Gasket, have bad rear main seal oil leak, rough idle and such. My oil leak is so bad I have to put in about three quarts avery 3-4 wks. But nothing ever wrong with the engine performance or reliabilty. Never has failed to start when the ignition was turned.

All of a sudden I am haveing Major missfire problems when I am at speeds 40-45 mph and higher. Replaced plugs, wires and ingnition coil pack. Ran good for about a day then came back. Had it checked out at service station. Diagnostic said that EGR valve wasn't performing correctly. Had this replaced. Ran great for 70 highway miles then came back. The plus is the car no longer idles rough after fixing EGR valve.

The car will not missfire if I keep the speed at city driving speeds 35 mph. But starts to freak out at highway speeds. Misfires continuously across all four cylinders. Its like riding a rodeo bull.

I have checked the codes; P0300 Mutiple cylinder missfire detected, P0301-P0304 Cylinder # missfire detected, P0352 Ignition coil no.2 primary circuit fault. Have even seen codes for cam/crank shaft positiong sensor faults. Also I see small faint plumes of white smoke billowing out from my front hood on the driver side which smells like like burning oil when the car is stopped at a light for a period of time.

Is this the end of my Stratus. Love to see If I could get it to 200,000. But my inspection sticker is due this month and cant get the check engine light to stay cleared to get the car inspected. I will clear the codes then the check engine light will come back on when a misfire is detected. The Inspectors are smart. Their computer knows that you recently cleared your engine faults and wont let you get an inspection untill at least 4 hours of driving cycle is logged in the cars computer.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
