mounting trans cooler
Pending exile racing gets off their a$$ and emails me to say I can use the stall converter; has anyone tried to mount a transmission cooler? I would like to mount behind the lower front bumper like you would an intercooler, but I'm not sure if there is enough room, and how/what to mount it to.
hmm..ive not seen one on an RT coupe...im pretty sure that its real tight in there. you would probably have to mount it somewhere around the rad, but the condenser and such would be in the way...
Ok, I missunderstood what a stall converter does. I thought it was involved with the shift at each point, i.e the car would shift harder from first to second, second to third, and third to drive. Apparently it only deals with the launch. As I don't do a whole lot of drag racing and am more interested in "rolling speed" I'm not sure if this really helps my cause. Or are the people I'm talking to wrong? Basically I want the car to shift harder/faster with less down time as the automatic transmission shifts.
unless you have the transmission fully rebuilt, adding something that makes it shift harder will only work for so long because that puts added strain on the trans internals.
