a/c compressor
well first of all i have a guge and everything for the a/c system and it says it is fully charged... second of all i took it to the dealership and they told me that it is fully charged and that the compressor is bad.... third all of the parts stores around me have looked at it and said that my compressor is bad..... fourth the compressor doesn't even make the audible click that it is supposed to make... that is how i know that the compressor is bad
more of a pain than anything. just don't let anybody see r134 venting. not to think of what it could do to you eyes. make sure to change the gaskets and check the sys for leaks when done, or before you start (that way you know if it's you or something else).
try turnning the middle of your compressor pulley, if it's tight, maybe a bad compressor (if you can turn it by hand it is good). next check your low press switch. if it's bad your a/c won't come on. then try your a/c relay if that's bad...same result.
and NOBODY can check for the right a/c press with out the a/c compressor RUNNING!!! 'cause the high side press checks how well the compressor works, and the low side checks how well the rest of the sys is doing. good luck.
first things first how many wires should be runing to the a/c comopressor? i only have one running to it. second where is my low press switch? third where is my a/c relay switch? any pics of the 2.0L enine with arrows pointing to these areas would be greatly apprecciated.
not sure about your eng set-up so this is all general info.
low press switch: this is on the low press line (the fatter one). when the 134 press get too low this switch opens, breaking the a/c power circuits. this is to stop you from frying your compressor. can be checked with a multi-meter. if the switch is "open" you can jump the lead to see if the sys comes on (don't run the sys like this unless you are SURE you have 134 or are adding some). to find follow the bigger line from your compressor to the cab. some place before the line goes INTO the cab you will see a 2 wire lead, this is your low press switch.
a/c relay: basic automatic electrical switches for high load items. about 1-2 inch qubed. these are located in the fuse box. under dash or hood depending on what make/model. on the cover of the box will give locations of all relays/fuses. if you don't have the lid go to the service dept of your dealer and ask for help.
compressor wires very greatly from model to model. my 96 neon has 2 wire bundles going in. one for the clutch solenoid and one for the high press switch that is on my compressor. you should be able to see if there are any loose wires/connections on your compresspor. good luck.
