Does the 2001 R/T have a Dryer?
I bought a 2001 Stratus R/T without A/C. I am trying to fix the A/C but its a pain in the butt to find parts for this car. I was able to find a decent compressor for it but can't find a Dryer for it online neither can I find it under the hood. Can you guys help me out in telling me if the 2001 Stratus R/T contains a dryer, if so then where is it? If not, is there anything else I need to change since my compressor is dead (I put R134a on the A/C and my compressor makes a nasty sound when it tries to spin the clutch).
I tried to search for Dryer in http://www.makeitmopar.com/ but found nothing; however, I did find the evaporator.

All DCX units have a reciever drier. Most GMs have an accumulator.
But anyway, I looked in a service manual and it did not give the location.
So all I can tell you is to trace the high pressure line from the compressor to the condensor and you should find it.

Do you know why it is so hard to find parts for these car, I know the Eclipse GT has the same engine but I didn't know that Stratus parts were so hard to find here in the states.
Well, for one thing I can't find any Rebuilt Compressors. Also, I can't find the Drier/Accumulator anywhere, not even from makeitmopar.com I have never had this many problems finding parts for a car, and I have a Cadillac Catera which parts are very rare.
the stuff that you need is probably dealership only parts...while working as a mechanic, i often stumbled across alot of "dealer only" crap...have you checked stuff for an 01-05 eclipse?

I have tried Eclipse, Sebring, and even the Galant but can't find the parts I need in my local autoparts store (O'reilly and Autozone) . Dealership prices are crappy, I guess the http://www.makeitmopar.com/ website is going to be my friend.
why are you replacing all the parts? sounds like maybe the compressor went south?
if you ain't pulled any parts check if you can still move the middle of your a/c compresor pulley by hand, 9 out of 10 times your compressor is still good. your clutch maybe bad though. i just rebuilt my '96 neon a/c sys, basicly change a bunch of o-rings and 2 seals. recharged and works great. most a/c sys have a high and low press switch that cuts power to the compressor to keep from frying the 'pressor when the r134 gets low/high. also a relay you can check in your fuse box that may be bad. also heard of bad wires/connections at the dash *****. hope it helps, good luck.
