I am no oil expert, so that's why I just go according to the service manual, which tells me to change my oil every 900 miles. I run 10W 40 normal Valucraft oil in my car instead of synthetic (because it leaks so much). I drive hard, and I tell you that around 750 miles the oil not only dark, but it's expired (even with the new additions every fill up). I mean that my oil pressure drops, the oil smells burnt, and the car sometimes doesn't get lubrication. It kind of pings a little, like it's running dry. So, I change the oil and all these problems go away. Also, I know that Synthetic runs longer, so that's why I said 1200-1500 miles, instead of my usual 750-900 mile oil change.

I just suggested my .02 cents according to what I've been through. Didn't mean to mislead anyone.

wow...does the eng have any type of oil cooler? in my humble opinon, it seems that the oil is over heating causing it to wear faster than it should. oils have improved quite a bit in the last 15+ years. you should at least be able to make it to the factory service period without pinging (comes from the eng running hot). has it always had this prob?

It's done this since I've owned the car, and I've put just about 4K miles in 2 1/2 months on it. I has no oil cooler what so ever, and I'd put one in if I was keeping the car. I'm selling it, so there's no need to make it better. I know the oil is overheating, but there's not much I can do about it. I guess I could drive slower, but I like my speed.

with the stratus, i change the oil about every 6 months, and that is usually about 500 miles, so long as i dont drive back to PA (we usually use rentals for that) and the oil comes out as clean as it goes in..next time, im going to change the RT oil and save it, and then change the ramcharger oil and put the old oil from the RT into the ramcharger...

thansen, any chance that you know where i could get a good (can be used) stock turbo for an 87 TII daytona? I dont have the t3 flange, and Ive been having a hard time finding one...[&o]
