Default tires for stratus rt 02

Im lookin at tires and really dont want to spend more than a 130 a tire unless its really worth it. Im looking at bridgestones potenza G 009 or goodyear assurance triple tread. Any information that you know about the two would be awesome or if you know about another tire that would be good.

well i bought toyo proxes tst's for the summer. Its a V rated tire for mud an snow but i woudnt use them in the winter. they were only like 135 a piece mounted and balanced here locally for me, a little more than i wanted to spend, but im totaly happy with them. the tread is realy cool and looks great on the car. Its a pretty nice, low profile performance tire. here is a small pic of the tread, dont mind the rock, leafs, etc... its raining here.

Well, the Goodyear Assurance tires are good tires....but they're a tad pricey in my opinion. I had Toyo Proxes4 on my car and they were absolutely without question HORRIBLE!

I have since bought new rims and tires.....for $750..and the tires I got are Falken Ziex ZE512's. They're a 215/50/17.... V rated and 360 treadwear. They cost about me about $75 at the time....

You can get them for $63 thru EdgeRacing.com.....

They look good on an R/T.....

i also have the falkens...they were the cheapest tires that i could afford, and with the cost of the skins on the mirada, and considering that i only drive the stratus about 1000 miles a year (if that) i wasnt going to buy high priced tires. i prefer yokohamas, but the falkens have seemed ok thus far..

my car came with goodyears, and never again will any car that i own wear goodyears...what junk.

I just put G 009 on all four two weeks ago. ($121 each from local Firestone dealer) First thing I noticed was the reduced road noise (Something the Potenza and Turanza series is noted for anyhow). I came off a cheap set of NANKINGS that road very rough and loud. Glad to have them gone for winter.
Other than that, it is way too early for me to give an honest opinion. I missed my last chance at the autocross track for this season, so winter roads are all I get for now. They do well on wet pavement and the pattern suggests good wet weather performance, but the torrential storms are yet to hit here, but when they do, I will let you know (maybe a week or two for our rain season to start).

As an FYI, the G 009s are my 4th set of Bridgestone tires since the early 90's. I like the product quality, and have enjoyed a great blend of performance with quietness. Longevity is only moderately important to me, as I am an aggressive driver, and you don’t get adhesion with hard (long life) tires. The 009 are 50k tires, and I doubt I will see it. Who knows, its a new compound design that might surprise me.

the best gripping tires that ive had on the stratus were parada spec-2s...they gripped GREAT, but only lasted me about 9000 miles...

Yup,
The old Yokohama 008R series were my preferred autocross tire back in the late 90's. I guess Yok has dropped out of the competition tire spotlight and the Hoosier a6 has taken over.
Back then I would go through a set of Yoks a season (at about $800/4). If you've never felt "stickies" on your car, then you owe yourself a $800 summer treat. Just don’t expect more than the summer season on them before they are gone!
But what a summer! Yehaaa!

Alas, those days may be gone for good, but I still insist on a quality tire with a nice tacky compound.
