Clutch Plate for '01 Stratus R/T is $850.00 !!
I just got back from an auto repair shop to get an estimate on replacing the clutch "release bearing" and "pressure plate". I was shocked to find out the price alone on the pressure plate is $850.00. The labor to install the plate brought the cost to 1200.00. I used to replace the pressure plate in my '76 Vega a long time ago ... it wasn't front-wheel drive but I think I'm willing to give it go. I noticed makeitmopar.com had a plate for 350.00. Oh well ... a Saturday is worth 900.00. Wish me luck.
Welcme to the world of transverse mounted engines!
Best of luck to ya, cause you may wish the shop had it befor you finish!.
(I fought the same issue on a waterpump for my Galant. $650 seemed mighty cheap after two full days came and went, and the Galant was still down!)

when my clutch went like 6 months ago the actual kit i found online somewhere for about $230 and they had my car for about 3 days my total was just around $950 so if they are telling you 1200 that is freaking nuts!!!!
I wonder if 850.00 was the cost of both the "clutch cover" and the "clutch disc". Geez, they keep changing the names of these parts ... I would have called a clutch disc a "pressure plate" but it looks like the Dodge boys chose clutch disc.
By the way ... I'm used to replacing the throw-out bearing and "clutch disc" when I remove the tranny but I've never heard of replacing the "clutch cover" by default. Does anyone know the general recommendation on whether or not to replace the clutch cover while you have the whole thing apart?
Thanks,

The factory clutch pressure plate is around 450$. If you're gonna spend that kinda cash just get a aftermarket kit. I personally got a spec stage 3+ clutch with lightweight option and lightwieght flywheel for the eclipse 3 liter and it all fits great. Handles 550lbs of trq and has decent streetability. Cost me about 1000$ for the kit and flywheel and about 730$ for install. BTW when you replace a clutch replace the whole thing because the fingers on the clutch plate are more than likely going to be all fugged up and probably warped slightly, impeding their ability to apply pressure to the clutch disc.
Get an aftermarket clutch set like the ACT street for $450 with everything you need. Then get yourself a Mitsu flywheel (around $50 at most parts stores, just use your existing one as a core). Your set with a better clutch and for the same amount of money or less.
