Changing Front Wheel Bearing?
I have a '97 Stratus 2.0. The front end's been making the dreaded "droning" noise for some time now and it's gotten gradually worse. You know the one. It gets louder when you turn the steering wheel to one direction and softer in the other.
I'm not an expert DIY'er by any means. I'm barely a casual one. Replacing my front wheel bearing assembly would probably be the most complicated of my undertakings thus far but I'm sick of paying people to do stuff that can't possibly be all that difficult. I'm a smart guy afterall.
Well I've read that I'll probably need a special "torx" wrench to do the task as well as a hub puller? Can anyone confirm that I will in fact need both of these? (and would this one work?) I wondered if anyone else who's performed this task could give me some insight as to how complicated this job is and if I'll run into any problems? Anyone know of a tutorial with pictures anywhere on the web?
Any help would be appreciated. I've got to take a trip in a few weeks and I'd like to take care of it either this weekend or the next.
If/when I do it, I'll put together a picture tutorial if there isn't already one available.
Thanks!
