Default 2.4L clicking...

do the 2.4L's have the same clicking gremlins as the Neons did? cause our two 2.4's click like crazy and they are loud!...is this normal? the engines are still young so could that be the reason? or is it something that wont go away lol...

Sedan or coupe? Also can you tell what is clicking? Is this happening when you first start the car up and go away when the car warms up? I had a 97 Neon with 97K and never had any clicking sounds.

both are sedans...and they click all the time... oil is fine so just thinking the injectors...

and we took in the Stratus to the dealership to fix some things (love warrenties!) and they did a complete checkover everything with the engine and didn't say anything was wrong with the clicking so it must be normal operations...

DOHC engines usually are a tad louder. Its the valves you hear. If something was wrong you would know it. Also it depends what grade of gas you use.

i have an 02 3.0L coupe...BAD clicking when cold start... when it warms up it goes away. My warrenty just expired but the dealer has about 15 records of this problem and they said, "we dont know whats wrong" and never fixed it... it is driving me absolutly crazy and makes me want to sell the car becuase im afraid its something major. The dealer has to fix it if the clicking gets worse... legal stuff, i love paper work ... any ideas on what that could be?

well according to our dealership (we took our Stratus in cause it was getting loud) its just the fuel injectors...which was what caused the clicking in the Neons....so its nothing to be worried about it...

fuel injectors?? those are the LOUDEST fuel injecters i have ever heard... makes the car sound like a deisel until it is warm. But i can honestly say i have had the car almost a year and its only when its cold... dealer replaced entire drivetrain, manifold, and some other exhaust parts with no luck on the clicking... seems to be running fine but it is just embarresing having such a nice lookin sporty car start up like a car with 400K miles on it. Any idea's on the fix??
