Default Do you guys use 87octane?

My car has been driving like crap lately. Sputters like it wants to shut off at idle and even bucks/jerks when driving. Today I went to get gas and I decided to use 92octance instead of 87 and its driving fine now.
Has anyone experienced this?

we use 87 octane in our 06 and 05 2.4's and they work fine...but then again they have VERY VERY low miles so i guess we shall see if they begin to act up like yours and others

do you normally get gas at the same place? If so, you may have been purchasing bad gas. Maybe with the higher octane gas is better at that station. The only time I had any spuddering problems is when the coil pack was going back on my car. My suggestion would be to go to different gas stations and see if you get the same results if you used the same station. Other than that, I guess your car likes higher octane gas.

Well I guess I will see, if I have anymore problems but I still doubt that the problems will be gone. I haven't changed my iginition coil yet. I never though about that. The ignition coil could be the root of the problem.

I have tried all different kinds of gas from different stations. It does not seem to matter with my car. I'm going to try to just open the cap without putting fuel in to see if its a pressure problem. My Dad had to Chevy S-10s in a row that had this problem and the dealers always said it was the main computer unit trying to adjust for the gas and having a glitch in it. They would replace the unit and in a few months the car would begin to act up again. In the end they would give him a good deal on a trade in, and then he switched over to Ford and won't go back to Chevy.

I'm going to get mine to the dealer next week when I fill up again and take the mechanic with me when I fill up and make him drive to see if it does it then. I'll be ticked if it doesn't because I has done it everytime I have filled it up so far and its only been three weeks since I bought it. It only has 20,000 miles on it. Thank god its still under warranty.
