Default 1/4 mile with a high stall torque conv.

I'm plan on purchasing the torque converter from rezlo.com next week. I have a auto dodge stratus r/t 04. The stall i plan on getting will be 2200 to 2400 rpm in that area. Just wondering how much time i can look to shave off in the 1/4 with this installed. Right now i'm running 15.9 could do better with a good launch, but thats with a cold air intake, headers and a muffler (just for sounds though.lol). just trying see if its worth doing this to my car. under 800 bucks for parts and install seem like it. to shave off maybe .5 or more seconds off.

With a header, I take it your tuned? If not, you might want to consider a reflash of your PCM. You can get a cord for less than $100 and free software. You can then head to a dyno and let them tune it. Our cars run rich to begin with and it gets worse after headers. Leaning it out should get you some more power where it matters and be more affordable than a TC.

I honestly haven't seen the rare few who have an aftermarket TC post times, so I can't relay that info.

yea its not tuned, most i have done is reset the ecu and hope it would adjust to the new air flow (which i know doesn't help much). Where would i get this cord and software so i can get myself set up? There really no shops around here that i can take my car to get the dyno done. nearest city that does is maybe 200 miles away. I hear so many good things about the TC able to launch in a higher band and a faster time from 0-60. not really cheap but willing to cough out the money to see what result i can get, plus a good retune of my car with the headers among other things could really get this auto moving in the 1/4. I guess i'll be the first to put up times with a higher stall TC and tune can give you in the 1/4.

Head to Club3g.com and start reading in the 3g, eclipse performance, and GT/GTS forums. I think you'll find way more than you could ever imagine. Also, it wouldn't hurt to ask them or search for improvements made by a TC.

i dont know that the 200 rpm jump will be a big enough gain...i would be AMAZED if you cut a half a second. first off, what tires/rims are you using at the track? is that full weight?

i also thought that our ECU was not programmable...

ive heard from countless people that the headers make a HUGE difference...however, my car rn 15.9-16.0 with the basically stock setup, but with some WR, 15" tires and rims, and mounts...

Reflashing the PCM/ECU is a recent development, as within the beginning of the year. Some guys who do work on Evos found out that the Eclipse (and consequently Strat) computers are very similar. You need to get the cable and get a definition file made for yours if it doesn't exist here: http://www.club3g.com/forum/showthread.php?t=69255
Basically, when he converts the definition files he is unlocking all the goodies. One Strat is on the list for certain. Mynes sells the cable, but it looks like they redid their site recently. So, try contacting them about it. There is also free software out there for doing the tuning yourself, but be sure and read up on it before you try. You can damage a lot of stuff if you don't know what you're doing.

Yea i think i could have ran a better time. I had 20 inch rims, the tires are 245/35/20. Next time i'll run on my stock tires or smaller if i can find some cheap ones. But i have been on the 3g site and maybe one or two guys that have done the TC has got better results. I don't know if they actually had a higher stall, but that company also offer a stall around 3500 rpm. I'll do research to make sure i get the right one but able to still drive daily with it. But only 200 rpm won't bring my time down, maybe .1 to .3 sec if that.lol I think i'll just go and get it retune. i'm not to hot on the electrical stuff when it comes to cars and i hate to mess something up trying to do something i never did before.
