Default Cold Air Intake Question

So, I'm not a moron, but I'm no mechanic.

I want to get a cia, and im not concerened about the brand. chances are, ill buy something nice. The question is, those intakes on ebay and such-- where does the cold air sensor fit into that picture? I want to keep the sensor in line, but I'm just not sure if buying an inexpensive intake, or any for that matter, will take that into consideration.

someone please help me out

thanks

Worried about intake brands? Stick with the better known ones. If you have a coupe, good names to rely on are AEM, Injen, and K&N.

I have an 01 R/T as well. All the kits are the same. There is no need to pay $200 extra for a kit that has a little sticker on it with a well known brand, its all piping and a filter, thats it. The only difference is the filter it comes with. Mine came with a cheapo filter so i bought a K&N for it. I can here the thing sucking in air like no tomorrow so i know its working. I think i paid $45 for mine off ebay, took 30 mins to put on, very simple. The only thing i had to make was a little bracket out of the supplied strip of aluminum in the kit to support the center of the kit. Because you removed the air box and stock intake plumbing there is no longer a support there. The bracket took 10 mins to bend the way i needed it to. Here is a pic of my auctual engine and the kit i have, I put an arrow pointing to the bracket. The only thing you dont see is the filter because it goes into the fender area. The picture also shows where the sensor is. hope this helps in saving you from spending money you dont need to spend.

yeah its pretty clean, there is a little bit of rust around every bolt though. whatever the dealership used to clean it made it rust all to hell. A buddy of mine works at one and he said its defintly because of the cleaner. sux but its cool for now

I've got quite a bit of rust in there, not to mention leaves and other things. I don't think the previous owner did anything under the hood, except hook up an amp wire.

If your not mechanically inclined, going with a name brand kit will come with the bracket. I'm sure it's easy to make, but I don't have any idea how to go about stuff like that so I bought the aem kit. It was a little more expensive, but everything is included without the need for fabrication. either way though, make sure you get a k&n filter, mine came with one but a lot of the ebay kits don't.
