oil pressure light
Hi,
I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus. It has 43,000 miles, when my car is stopped at a stop light, the oil pressure light goes on, once I start moving again, it goes off. I had my mechanic change the oil to a thicker oil, that didn't work. Is this something a warranty could cover? Do I have to go to a dodge dealer or can a regular mechanic fix this proelem?
Thanks

Could be a bad oil pressure switch. Have an oil pressure gauge hooked up and see what the actual oil pressure is while you drive. It's the only way of being sure without just buying the switch and seeing if it goes away. The gauge is much more informative in any case.
Had the same problem with my 04 Stratus Coupe. They replaced the oil sending unit and it has been fine since then. I know mine was covered under the Dodge extended warranty, so I am not sure in your case.
I had my oil sending unit done and it was no biggie. I believe i bought the unit under $20 and the mechanic took about 20 minutes to do the job. I didn't even get charged for it, I guess it was my lucky day, OR the mechanic hit the Lottery earlier that day.
