How Many Miles On Your Stratus???
My sisters 96 2.4 liter stratus has 163,000 with origional engine except a head, timing belt, a cam sensor and a transmission at 130K everything else is origional. I really want to buy it from her when she sells it so I can save on gas. What do these little guys get for MPG on the highway and town?
Well, I am glad most of you have had great experiences with your stratus, but I have to agree with Tacoboy(back a couple of pages). I will NEVER buy another chrysler/dodge/mopar product again. My 2002 2.7 L dodge, with 106,000 miles is now a paperweight in my driveway. I had to replace both rear roters and brake pads. Then I also had to replace the water outlet housing unit last year. Then, after putting a new transmission in it ($2,100) in February, (before it was paid for) my engine blew - blown head gasket - in August, only less than 4 months after the final payment was maid. With the engine shoehorned in there, it is almost impossible to do it yourself. Plus it's amazing all the steps to go through to get the head off the block of the engine. Regardless, I've been told to swap the engine because I have likely cracked the head. So, I'm not putting as much - OR MORE! - money into the car that it is worth! Not to mention that since I have had the car, the interior lights have always flickered, but Dodge couldn't find a short, so nothing was wrong - even though it was flickering while I was talking to them. The wiper sprayers quit working about three years ago. My power locks wouldn't work for a while, but they have worked for the past year or so. I took it in because it would blow cold air while I was at a stop light - but could they find anything wrong with it? Of course not! And it has never defrosted well. I sat for over an hour one morning, and it never heated up to defrost the windshield with a thin layer of ice on it. I have hated this car since I had it. I liked the 98, 2.4 liter, 4 cyliner I had. I wish I had never given it up. But because of this last piece of crap, I will never again buy a dodge. And I will tell the world all the problems I had with it. And if it keeps 1 person from buying a dodge after all the trouble they caused me, then I've done my part. Like I said, I am glad most of you have had good luck with your cars. I wish I had been so lucky. If you need any parts, I have a newly rebuilt transmission with about 6,000 miles on it! Works great! Seats in excellent condition(no rips, tears, or stains)! Great body, no dents except for rear bumper, new water outlet housing. Let me know if your need something!
