I need help??
I know this isn't a good first post, but I need some help. I previously had a 97 ford mustang gt, and My friend has a new corvette that he always has to boast about. Well we would race but he literally killed me. So I sold the stang, and took out a loan, and found a good 2000 viper rt/10. So I figured yea this will beat his vette, and be a nicer car then his. I think it looks alot cooler. Well anyways I figured it would kill his vette. Umm I still can't beat him???? This is usually raceing from a slight roll to maybe 80 or 90 ok maybe 100. I can't figure it out. Shouldn't I be able to take him? His corvette is all stock. Its a 2005 z06. Not sure what specs it has, but I figured my v10 would take his v8? I'm so confused? Did I get ripped spending 35,000 for a 2000 dodge viper with 45,000 miles? Is that like past the v10's prime? I don't know how long these engines last. I don't know anything about them, but did I get ripped I have1 week leftbefore I am stuck with it. Are upgrades cheap for these cars? Give me all the info you can, and help me out.

1. A stock 05 Z06 will not take a stock 2000 GTS unless the GTS has an issue or a bad driver.
2. If you paid 35K for a 2000 GTS and it has a clean title you did not get ripped off. If you want to sell that slow thing I will give you 37K right now.
Curious, you said slight roll, how fast and what gear were you in? What speeds are you shifting at?

Its not a gts. Its the rt/10. We usually just start off at maybe 5 or 10 mph. I shift just when I feel it needs to shift. He usually beats me by 2 or 3 car lengths. I drove his car and it has a lot more top end than mine it seems like. It handles a bit better too It feels like. My car has 45,000 miles on it, his only has 5,500 miles.I had the car checked over by a family mechanic. He said it was in great shape mechanically. I don't know what the deal is then? I'm a little scared to let him drive the viper, but I was thinking about him in the viper, and me in his vette, and then raceing and see if it just the driver!
I might try that within the next few days, and let you know. Any more info would be great.

You are doing something very wrong to loose by 2-3 car lengths from 10-90. Or your car has a performance issue. The real way to tell is take it to a dyno.

I could actually do that my uncle lives in Michigan, and owns this performance shop that has a dyno. I am actually going up there tonight. For easter tommorowIwould prolly have to wait until Monday or tuesday before I could dyno it. I think his is like a mustang dyno. I guess I'll do that, it will use a lot of fuel driveing the viper from Illinois to michigan. I guess I can swing it to see whats going on with the car. I mean the car is definetly fast. A heck of alot faster than my mustang was. My mustang was 240 horespower on my uncles dyno. Also I found out my friends corvette has a cold air kit, and a slp exhaust system. I don't know how much that adds, but I was talking to him about his car, and he said it would prolly only add 10 or 15 horespower getting exhaust, and a cold air kit. My Aunt has a computer so I'll stay in touch on here.

Did not under estimate the Vette. However a stock 00 GTS will outrun a stock C5 Z06.

Hey guys. I got it dynoed. My uncle said something was prolly screwed up cause my numbers shouldn't have been that high. We did a few runs these 2 were the best we got. Average of them all were around 415 horsepower, and 435 torque. Mt uncle said that seemed high for my viper. He said the dynojet usually adds more because of something, I don't remember what he said. The mustang dyno thing I thought he had was wrong. He said he was gonna upgrade to one though. He said there more accurate. He figured a 5-10% decrease is what my actual numbers were.

God thats blurry. How do you clear that up? I got it through computer, and it was huge so I shrunk it. It wasn't all that clear to begin with, but jeexe thats really blurry. sorry! Let me know how to clear it up.
