Can the viper stand up to this?
The question is whether the Viper will stand up to the 'Blue Devil"
Personally... I think yes, b/c with ... what is it now 4 already being made models (w/o convertible variants), that are on-par with older Viper models, noone is going to be paying $100k for a Vette, when they can get a just as good, (albeit non Viper beating) vettefor about 46k... or a Viper for the $100k
Honestly... the Vette is great and all... but it just won't quit trying to be better than the Viper (considering the name is over 50 years old... it should be... but alas...)
Chrysler beat the Vette to the punch... deal with it, and move on
But, as the auto business goes... it's all about competition...

Well I am a Dodge Man myself, but from what I've been reading chrysler is going under fast. Thats why there eliminating so many cars. I don't know if its true or not. I hope not because I can't picture not being able to get a new dodge vehicle.
Also everything I've been researching about this new vette shows it beating the viper in about everything. I bet Dodge will get them back next year though. Are they going to redisign the Viper again, or are they eliminating it too? I wish I could go back 10 years so I would be able to not see the end of the viper. I hope its just rumors. Does anyone of any insight on this last viper thing?

I think the Viper will be around for a while though, despite the hard times that auto manufacturers are facing. The Viper is their flagship performance vehicle, it'll just take Dodge a little R&D and time until they super/turbo-charge the Viper to one-up the new Vette. Like you said, it's all about competition...
Yeah. The ZR1 is a beast. I hear that GM might go down if they don't pick up things within the next year too. I hear Toyota might buy them out.
Maybe if they made more efficient cars in the US they wouldn't have a problem. Seems to me as if they can't keep up with the other cars in terms of mpg etc.

Like the Cobalt SS gets better MPG than the Caliber (just read stats recently)
Not gonna happen... GM won't sell to Toyota... the company that's been forcing them to fire their employees...
If i am correct... the main problem with our cars is the heavy curb weights, which strain on the engines... and the fact that they're a tad more expensive than others...

If Toyota wants a piece of GM, they'll get it. Its a publically traded company and GM needs an influx of money.
Power-to-Weight ratio has never been great with Chrystler's, and other than striping the interior and/or replacing body panels with carbon fiber bits, there's not much you can actually remove to improve it. But that's why we have DF... screw removing weight, just add more power!
