I currently own a 2001 Corvette coupe which I am very happy with. I am a sports car freak and I've always LOVED the Viper. As a matter of fact, I think it is simply the baddest looking machine on the planet, bar none! I have lucked into an opportunity to purchase a mint 'Yellow' 2002 RT/10 with 4,500 miles for what I think is an UNBELIEVABLE price!!!!! I have a few questions....

1) First, according to the blue book values, the car is worth around 43k trade in, and about $56k retail. I have a once in a lifetime chance to buy this car for 30k. Is this a good deal or am I missing something here???

2) Compared to a Corvette coupe, how high is the insurance on a Viper. About the same, higher, or lower?

3) Were there any notable issues with the 2002 model year?

4) Those of you who have owned both a Vette and Viper, what are your comparison thoughts?

5) As a person who has never driven a Viper, what can I expect as far as differences from the Vette?

Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

1. IF YOUR GETTING A 2002 VIPER FOR 30k THAT IS THE BEST DEAL I HAVE EVER HEARD. JUMP ON IT. If not call me.

3. Known as a creampuff because they don't dyno as high as some earlier models.

4. Corvette is a completly diffrent car on all levels. Corvette has a lot more refined the Viper is more raw. Etc., etc. could go on for a page or two.

Heh, thats a bought car right there....you actually havent bought it YET!!!! GET OFF THE PC AND GO GET IT!!!!!

 

$30 G's... sounds a little too good to be true, better check it for problems, recon title, accidents and such... people dont just go around loosing potentially $13,000 unless theres a good reason! Take the VIN to your local dealer and see if they will run a "function 69 & 70" on it to check both the options list and then the service and repair history through the dealer. Then call your insurance company and have them run the number to check for things that might have happened to it through a past insurance claim. Unless you are buying it from a family member or close friend that is somehow metally deficient or disabled I would severely question it. I could easily sell an '02 with only 4500 miles for well over $50,000 even with some slight imperfections.

 

Do you know the sellers on a personal level or something, because they are really hooking you up or screwing you over. 30K for a 2002 with 4,500 miles seems almost ridiculous. Are you sure it wasn't salvaged, then repaired maybe? Check the Vin number on it. If you do decide to buy it, then great!
