2008 Viper info and pics, post em here!
ORIGINAL: ViperGTS
-08 Viper will have the GTSR concept car look to it
-May use a modified Mercedes platform
-May use a modified SRT-8 engine (not likely, but to cut costs)
-Heard that a coupe will only be available from 08 on, but the Viper started as a vert, so I think it's here to say.
-Stock turbo/supercharger?
-Weight will be about the same
-Most likely noticable weight reducing materials on the exterior

Lets get to tearing this down
- May use a modified Mercedes platform (Not too entirely likely i dont see this as being to cost effective for them)
- May use a SRT-8 Engine, (the viper will never have a V-8, they thought about doing it as a mid engine v12 for the last modle change, but never)
- Stock Turbo/Supercharger( its dodge and the viper has always been about the motor all 8.3 NA liters of it)
- Weight will be about the same/Most likely noticable weight reducing materials on the exterior(contradiction)
The SRT-8 engine would be easier and way cheaper to manufacture cosidering two other cars in the DC line use the engine. There would be weight reduction too. And let's face it, almost all the greatest supercars in the world use V8's.
If another car is already using it then Dodge doesn't need to build a whole assembly line to create it, they wouldn't need engineers, and they wouldn't need to pay people more at the new assembly line either.
Not necessarily, the new car itself could weight more...but with the weight reducing materials could help lower weight to about the 3rd gen's weight. Let's say the gen 4 will use a steel roof. So right then it would weight more than the gen 3. But if the noticable weight reduction materials were used, it could make it about even to the gen 3 again...
Keep in mind grasshopper, that the original Viper, the VM01 used an aluminum Chrysler V8.... Also Dodge has never considered using a V12, not even for the gen 3 (SRT). Ever since the VM02, it's been all about V10's.
"Always been"? The Viper hasn't always been "all 8.3 liters". It's always been NA, but don't be suprised

Got some news on the 08 Viper. Which is exactly what I wanted to hear. It turns out the 08 Viper convetible and coupe on average did a top speed over 200mph. The convertible still did 197mph with the top down.[8D]
