Default Thoughts on Ebay?

I've been looking at a Viper on Ebay and was just wondering if anyone else here has used Ebay to purchase a vehicle? Any thoughts or experiences?

I found my Viper on EBay, but did not buy it on EBay. I flew to Milwaukee to check it out and buy it. I would never make a purchase on EBay that large without checking it out in person.

94rt is correct, never buy or bid on a car without checking it out....unless it's from a dealer and it's got only a few miles. The only chance then of something going wrong really is it being a lemon. But even that you could buy locally instead of traveling...

If the person has been on Ebay a long time and has a high feedback rating of 99% or higher (read what comments they left) you are probably dealing with an honest person. But it's still a good idea to check the car out in person.........

I agree...If I am going to spend that much money on a car, it would be best to see it in person...

we got out 01 Baja 232 Performance boat on ebay in early 02...it was an Enron Repo with less than 10 hours on the engine and less then half price. and the info clearly stated that the highest bidder must check out the boat within a week of closing of auction and after inspecting had the chance to walk away. If they did they would have to pay fees for the use of the auction on ebay and thats all. also included was the boat would be sent to a baja manufacturing plant to be inspected. it was a good deal, it would be cool to find something like that, but i wouldnt just buy without having the option to walk away, i would check it out first!

New guy here…..

A friend of mine bought his Viper from eBay but luckily the car was right here in the same town as we live in. He was able to look at the car before bidding…… It’s a great car!!
