I don't need a fancy-smancy number to be cool, I'll just take #133.

I've been on here for a while but took a long break. Hope to get a little more involved.

hey guys, im wondering would it be possible to paint my stock silver nerf bars black? im not really sure if i could paint them black, or if i should just buy a set of black ones. has anyone ever painted these type before?

I painted my stockers. They were the chrome steps that came with the truck. Just sand them down good before painting and you should be good.

ok cool. i bought some black paint from autozone. its called rust tough enamel. it says ultimate corrosion protection. the brand is krylon. its in a black spray can. i used it when i was painting my bumper on my old dakota. you think a couple coats of this will be good?

also, does anyone know what type of aftermarket headlights will fit a 01 ram SPORT. im looking to get black headlights, but ic hecked on ebay, and almost all of them say fits all models EXCEPT sport. =(

After you sand it down, make sure you use a self etching primer on the nerf bars. It will help the paint stick better and in the long run you will have less chance of it peeling or flaking. You can get the duplicolor self etching primer at most stores for a few bucks.

ok cool thanks. what baout exhaust tips? are those paintable? lol probably a dumb question but im just curious.

You can paint those too, same as the side steps. Sand them down and use a little self etching primer. Here is a pic of mine.

very nice. bad thing is mine are still attached to the truck. lol do i have to use some sort of heat resistant paint?

You might want to use heat resistant paint. I didn't on mine and have not had any problems but I also run my exhaust through my cutout almost all the time so my tips never really get hot.
