Where did you get the mark VIII and how much did you pay?
I'm seeing 80-100$ on ebay.
I also saw this on a mustang forum with my minimal research.

NOTE: The Lincoln Mark VIII fan will draw continuous currents of 33A@12.0V & 42A@14.4V, and has a starting current in excess of 100A!

This was the site I was going off of and it gives some numbers as well. I'm not sure what the actual draw is. People have had a lot of success with them in the 3rd gen trucks with the stock alternator. The controller I got supposedly handles the load without a problem according to others. http://www.thehollisterroadcompany.c...VIIIrelay.html
I paid $150 shipped for my setup. Bought it from a member on here. Its a used fan but came with a brand-new in-box variable speed controller (this exact model). So I basically paid $40 for the fan. I may have saved a few bucks and found them cheaper around here but I figured I'd help out a member and save myself the time of finding one. I'll take pics of the install and post em up once I'm done.

This is the controller I was thinking about getting. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...edVehicle=true
It has a 185º preset temp That I can use for the low speed then I can wire in a switch for high speed.
After reading the fan info page that you posted, that kind of makes me want to go back to the junk yard and get the fan off that Thunderbird with the 4.6l motor. It was a good size fan and I passed on it because I didn't know if it would work or not.

I have a few 40 amp relays that I'm going to connect all my lights to eventually, I might use one of those if I get a fan first.
fk, if you can wire up an air compressor then you can wire up a fan.
After a little more research I learned that the mark VIII is almost identical to the 93-97 Thunderbirds 4.6l fan, the flow rate is really close and the difference is that the Mark VIII is a variable speed fan that speeds up/slows down according to demand and the fan out of the Thunderbird is a two speed fan like the Taurus fan. I think I'm going to run back to that junk yard and pick up those two fans from the Cougar and the Thunderbird for mine and my dads trucks. I figure he can buy the controllers since I'm getting the fans.
I also saw this on one of the sites
Doing the probe that way gives a more accurate temp reading that isn't affected by the outside air or the air getting pulled through the radiator by the fan.
I just noticed JoeHemi's avatar, good stuff. I passed by one of those one time and it was flashing "TOO FAST". I was only doing like 70 in a 35...
