Default Got a wild hair up my @$$ today and went murdering...

So I got my 35 x 13.50's on yesterday and decided today to go ahead and get rid of all the chrome. One of the best ideas I had yet. I can't wait till I get my hitch on so I build my spare tire carrier. Anyone seen a swing out spare tire carrier that goes in the receiver hole? I had an idea to build one that I could pull on and off like a tow hitch ball, yet would swing open like a jeep so I could drop my tailgate. Hmm... By the way, what you guys think about my truck now? I really like the all black look.......

This is a transcript of an email conversation that I had with KORE Performance. I saw there Pre-Runner kit for 4x4 trucks and it looks really nice. (http://www.koreraceshop.com/dodge-ra...ies-06-08.aspx) I was wondering if the Upper Control Arms would work on a 4x2, so I looked around on the internet and found that the factory UCA for 4x4's and 4x2's are the same part number. In theory it would be just a bolt on part. Seems like a good upgrade for $275 Anyway read below and see what you guys think.

Me:
Hello,
I am wondering if the upper control arms for your 2006-2008 Dodge Ram 1500
Pre-Runner kit (part # 1A-6013-02) will fit on a 2wd truck. I looked around
the internet and found that the stock upper control arms are the same for
both the 2wd and 4wd trucks. I am thinking about using them with a 4" lift
spindle on my 2wd truck. Also if they will fit would you sell them by
themselves? Thank you.

Sam:
I don't know if they will fit or not. Just because the OE part numbers are
the same doesn't always mean the same aftermarket parts will work. I would
be concerned about the clearancing issue with the spindle and the fact that
our UCA allow for more droop which could cause problems if not correctly
compensated for in other areas. With that being said, it's your truck your
choice and they are available for a nonrefund 275 outside of the kit.

Best Regards
Sam
KORE
Me:
Thank you for the prompt response.
As far as I know the stock Dodge front suspension down travel is limited by the length of the front shock. Your concern about more droop could be solved by adding limit straps I would think.
At the moment is Kore developing any kits for a 2008 2wd dodge? If I want those upper control arms how would I go about purchasing them? Through email with yourself or through the website?
Sam:
Yeah but if the upper arm doesn’t provide resistance on the oe length shocks it’ll pull the shock from the mount, at least that’s the case with the 4x4. Unless Chrysler asks us too then we will probably not do a 2wd kit since that’s not our cup of tea and even then it would more than likely be only for the future model years. You can call at 760-855-1219

That's lame. I would love some Pre-Runner grade suspension parts.

OK question time. I am looking to lift the front end of my 2005 2wd 1500 Quad Cab. I have already ordered new lifting springs by Rough Country (2") and coil spacers (2") I realize this is one of those situation where 2+2 might not equal 4, but I am figuring i should get about 3" in any case which leads me to my question. I know I will need to replace shocks which is fine as they are pretty much toast anyways. I was thinking Procomp, and did order a set. But they were for the 4wd. I am now looking for something different to accomadate the lift, stockers just wont cut it. I thought about swapping the front IFS with a stock 4wd IFS witht he torsion bars, but am a little wary as I honestly dont know what all the entails other then the obvious (lower control arms, bars and keys, and the cross member). Does any one have any recommendations? should I just invest in a loop to t-bar/stud conversion kit? Or does someone make a shock for lifted 2wd trucks? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure shocks are the same regardless of if they are for 2WD or 4WD. Except in the case of the Bilstein lift shocks. If anything I know the ES9000s work for 2WDs. My shocks came with my lift kit so I don't know for sure. But I don't see how a standard shock would be different for 2WD or 4WD.
