Because your 2nd gen ram doesn't have the foam backing on the decals (as far as I know). The 3rd Gen rams are a pain in the *** to debadge but well worth it. I gave 2 of my fingers almost bleeding blisters from just doing the large ram head on the tail gate. The final product turned out great, but was a long time to get there. It took me 4 separate days to debadge mine. Day 1 was the doors, day 2 was the Hemi badges on the fenders, day 4 was just the large ram head on the tailgate, and day 4 was the remaining decals on the tailgate.

I have pics of it debadged on my cardomain site in my sig.

Do it the easy way, get some thin piano style wire and run it along the back of the badge itself. This should get the badge and alot of the foam off. Next just use gasoline to remove the left over glue residue.

Yeah piano wire or less chance of scratching, some high tensile fishing line, then go to your auto body supply store and get a rubber eraser wheel. It sticks in your drill and takes off adhesive quick without much cance of scratching. Either way after taking off emblems always polish it, If you dont and your truck gets dusty youll be able to see where the emblem was.......A ghost outline of once was... lol

I USED A PLASTIC ICE SCRAPPER AND GOT MOST OF IT OFF EASILY. THE LEFT OVER GLUE WAS REMOVED WITH GOO GONE . THEN JUST WASHED THAT AREA AND WAXED IT TO KEEP THE PAINT SAFE. TOTAL TIME ABOUT 30 MINUTES

i used a nylon string to remove the sticky part from behind the badge then cleaned the residue with diesel.
