NEED HELP! I have tranny issues
I bought a 2001 Dodge Ram SLT Laramie 4x4, it has the Off Road package. This is my first Dodge and I dont know alot about them. I know it has a 5.9 360 engine, it's automatic, and I think it has 4.10 gears. It has factory wheel and tires. The only things I've done to it werereplace the stock muffler with a 24 inch glass packwith echo tips, and change the oil and filter. The first couple of months this truck was great, but here lately i've had some problems. The truck developed a miss, and was running real rough, I found a vacuum leak on the top plastic hose on the passenger side of the firewall, I fixed it but it still ran rough. I changed the plugs and it started running good again. The plug on driver side, closest to the fire wall, (#7 I think), was burnt real bad. Then i noticed that the trans was acting kinda funny. When I first take off from a stop, it starts moving, but really doesnt pick up momentum till i get to about 1700 RPM. It also seems like it takes ittoo long to shift. When I'm rolling to a stop, I can feel the trans kick down real hard before I actually stop. I have felt trannys that were slipping, but this dont feel the same. At 70 mph I can nail the gas and it kicks down and accelerates fine. I alsohear another vacuum leak somewhere on the drivers side, but cant find it. Can the vacuum leak have anything to do with my tranny issues, that might be a stupid question but I dont have a clue. Also, I did the key off and on thing and it said PO307.I looked up the code and it said misfire in #7. Is this code displaying from the time beforeI changed the plugs, or is this something new? Can any of this stuff be related? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much. Kelly Adams
Your vaccum leak maybe from your intake manifold or a missing o-ring on the throttle body. Find the PCV valve and the hose going to the air filter , plug the hose from the air filter and put a finger over the PCV hole on the valve cover. If your finger is being suck in by vaccum then you find your leak. the pleum gasket is leaking. This may fix your misfire code and maybe not. I have already posted two other times to replace the cylinder heads.
