Default Dodge Neon "fuel Pump"

I have a question regarding my daughters Neon, does the computer control the fuel pump? The pump stopped working, I removed it, cleaned it reinstalled it and it worked. The gasket leaked so I got a new one and replaced the fuel pump gasket and now the pump isn't working again??? I'm baffled??

the computer sends signal to power up the fuel pump but not directly. it sends voltage to a relay which sends power to fuel pump. more then likely you have a bad fuel pump. if you can hook up a test light to the fuel pump wires see if you have voltage there while you have someone cranking the vehicle. also you can try to hit the bottom of the fuel tank in the area where the pump is located with a rubber mallot which sometimes gets the pump working again, its basicly the same principle as you would hit a starter motor with a hammer to get that working.
