Default 86 ramcharger problems

I have a 4wd 86 ramcharger with a 5.9 motor w/carbuator that was rebuilt about a year ago.

The problem is that the truck will start and idle fine but when you take it out and you slow for a stop sign or light it will die. Then once you get it started again it will hesitate for a minute before it takes off. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be?

Thanks

Check everything involving the fuel and air intake systems - Carb(idle screw, mixture screws, floats etc) , vaccum lines, EGR. Just do an inspection over everything you can get your hands on basically.

If it smells of gas when this stop happens it could well be the float valves not closing properly. Lets excess fuel drizzle through and floods the plugs. How does it do for HC and CO at idle on a smog test? If they're high that points to the same.Ours R/Cis a '90 5.2 w/ TBI.
