Default torque converter clutch solenoid circuit? #37

We're getting this trouble code on our '90 Ramcharger 5.2 3 sp auto w/electric O/D. Can this be fixed in home or does it need to be taken to a tranny shop to be fixed?

Default RE: torque converter clutch solenoid circuit? #37

is the trans a 3spd or 4spd (overdrive)- there isn't a 3spd w/electric o/d. It makes a difference in diagnostic routine. It could be an electrical issue or it could be an issue in the torque converter etc.. As far as, it being fixed at home or taken to a shop.....you would need a voltmeter/test light and some patience to determine if you can repair it yourself. repost which trans is in it and I'll walk you through the diagnostics.Look at the prndl on the dash (park reverse nuetral drive low) does the d have a circle around it?
