Default 1969 383 Timing chain Install Question

Im working on a 1969 383 Timing chain. Can some one tell me what cylinder and stroke I should be on when doing this. I assumed TDC #1 compresion stroke but when I get it apart the cam is out 180???? should I be on #6 compresion. It looks like I will be able to swap the gears with out removing the dist is this true? It is a single bolt style on the cam.

Thanks for your help

i see noone has replied to you...heres the info bro......the timing marks on all chain driven gears on V-6 and V-8 mopars line up to each other...one will be down and the other will up. As for the disto..all the manuals i have say to take it out and the oil pump drive...and have someone with a screwdriver hold against the back of the cam not letting it hit the rear freeze plug. And i only see one bolt...good luck...

moe shouse in wichita ks. the service man just says to aline the marks, it DOESNT sayif its top dead compression#1 or #6. but it turns out to be top dead compresion#6 on dodge small block as well as big block. the most imporant thing is that the marks are alined, a long stright edge works good, and dont beat the cam gearon or you will knock the plug behind the cam out.
