Default Outside Temp Guage (Overhead console)

The temp guage in my overhead console always reads -40f. I know it can't be right- I'm in Texas and it's been 100+ for the last week. Is there a way to calibrate it, or does anybody know how to check the sensor/sending unit for it? Or even where the unit is located?
It's in a 2001 Ram 2500, Quad Cab 4x4

Thanks!
