Default 03 1500 tranny problem

Hey guys, my 03 tranny is giving me trouble. It has 89,000 miles. When I am cruising at a constant speed the rpms jump up 300 and then come back down. This does not happen under exceleration until today. I could not tell if the raise in rpms was due to slippage or down shifting. I was accelerating to 30 mph. Also the normal shift point is 2000 rpm . Today it would also go to 3000 rpm, hang there for a fews seconds and then shift. In older cars part of this was a vaccuum problem.

Any help appreciated
Chad

My neon does that, I'm getting it rebuilt. I'm not sure what the exact problem is though... My dad might know.

My 02 Durango R/T had the same problem and was told to replace the TPS and that solved the problem. RockAuto.com has them for cheap. Good Luck

Ok, I solved the problem this weekend. My buddy turned the ignition on without starting the truck. He the put the shifter in first gear and pumped the accelerator repeatedly. He then went through all the gears and neutral doing the same. We started up the truck and it drove like a champ. Hope this can help someone else.
