Default heat wont work on a 97 conversion van

i got these dadge van thats taken me to hell and back and recently my trusty heat went out.. its not a coolant issue..

The control panel no longer clicked fom hot to cold, it just stuck, so i took it out and noticed the control wire was bent up and not realy doin what its spose to.. I followed the control wire to the lil doo hicky which it controls under the hood.. i understand that this wire basicaly turns a **** to a specific position depending on how hot or cold you wish it to blow.. So i figured i would turn it manully to the position it would be in if i were to crank it to high heat and that didnt seem to do it.. Even as i turn this **** to full heat i still get room temp air..

Any ideas?

What year van are you talking about. If you're manually operating the valve under the hood, sounds like maybe the heater core could be clogged.
