99 2500 60000miles about a month ago NOBUS apperd on the odometer all gauges went dead check engine light can on. waited a few minutes every thing went back to normal. has not done it since. but truck is pinging bad when engine is warm. tryed med grade gas no diff. can any one help me fix the pinging?

 

first thing I would look at are the plugs, and check the ohm's on the wires.

after that, if the engine is distributerless, I would check to make sure the cam possition sensor is functioning properly. if you havent unplugs your bettery you might be able to run to an auto parts store with a code puller and see what codes were thrown, that would give you a better sence of whats going on.

but what it sounds like is youve got a bad plug or something. worse case. . .possably part of the electrode came off, and during the combustion process it stays red hot and ignites the new air charge as it is being compressed and this object is just large enough that it cannot make its way out the exhaust valve during the exhaust stroke.

my little yoda gets to knocking bad and running real rough when the plugs are shot.
