Nissan 240 no start????
I know this is a Dodge site, but my buddy's got a 89 240sx with SOHC 2.4, and it sometimes won't start. The suspected problem is the MAFS connector... because when it does run, it will die if the connector is messed with. We cleaned out the pins and receivers on the connector, and still no start. Any ideas, anybody???
how does the wiring look leading to the MAFS? even if the MAFS was not working properly, i dont know that it would prevent the engine from running...i can disconnect the MAFS on my two dodgubishis, and they will still run...
when its running and you touch/jiggle the connector that plugs into the MAFS it will run rough and/or die. sometimes when it starts it knocks a little bit, and lacks power. the pins on the MAFS side of the connector were a little corroded so i cleaned them, and then crimped the sleeves in the pigtail end of the connector so that they bite the pins a little better. Still no start. when cranking, with or without gas pedal input, you can smell raw gas. in the process of getting ~5 inches of rain, so i didn't check for spark, although, it did start and run for about two minutes to get to my house from the gas station. backed out of the drive again a few minutes later, died. no start. the connector on the pigtail, the boot is broken, and you can see the wires inside going into the black plastic connector, but none of the insulation is burned, fried, or anything like that. He bought it for 700$ and otherwise its a good car, except for the whole 500$ part thats probably trashed:P
