Timing Issue
I have a 92 Dodge Spirit that had a camshaft break. I replaced camshaft and put on new timing belt. I have never done a timing belt before. I have the vehicle to the point where it will run, but it hesitates and cuts out quite a bit. I hooked up a timing light and the mark on the flywheel fluctuates back and forth from where it is supposed to be. It seems to fluctuate the same distance on both sides of the mark where it is supposed to be. Also the trouble code indicates vehicle speed sensor which is on the transmission. I suspect there is nothing wrong with the sensor (which I know nothing about) but that the problem lies in the timing belt being one notch off on either the camshaft or the crankshaft. Does this seem right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is actually my son's car. I'm trying to get it running right so I don't have to worry about him when he is out on the road.
