Default oil pressure sending unit

This may sound silly but my oil sending unit started leaking, so i installed a new one. my old one always stayed about 1/2 the way up, even before it started to leak. My new one almost pegs the needle, and in less than 5 miles i developed a leak in the side of my oil filter(fram).a pin hole but it sure sprayed all over my oil pan.what could have caused this big change??this is a stroked 340 with about 8000 miles on it.

I'd get a mechanical gauge and install it in the port and see what PSI it says ...
Are you sure you got the correct Oil sender as they have different values for them ...
Do you think the motors building excessive pressure causing the hole in the oil filter???

moe in wichita ks

DO NOT use fram oil filters. use purolator pure one. my 2001 dak v 6 uses a pl14670.
be sure its the pure one. i dont have the room to tell about all the research ive done on oil and filters. but it sound like your engine has to much oil pressure.
