how far should the pintle of the iac motor retract when tested cold? the book says it should be in more than an inch when installing it . mine's out about 3/4 in and when i turn on the key to check it it doesn't move? thanks Randy

 

What motor /Car/ Truck ??? Are you installing a new one or trying to check an old one ???

 

1998 dodge stratus and i was checking the original iac motor in this car. it has 140,000 miles on it. i took out the iac motor but before i did, i sprayed intake and idle control cleaner into the throttle body and into the iac ports. this car doesn't seem to have what would be a fast idle when i first start it up. i checked the map,coolant temp,TPS sensors with my fluke multi meter and all appeared good. i read where i can check the iac motor by doing a vacuum test. i will try that next. thanks for any ideas or advice.
