How much was it over filled (personally) anything close to a quart over makes me a little nervous so I usually drain it out anything under a half of a quart I’ll leave and have had on problems. If you want to drain it, some models will have a drain plug located on the transmission oil pan if however you don’t see one then the pan will more then likely have to be unbolted and drain that method (remember though that once the pan is unbolted you’ll have to replace the gasket) I have also drain some back out before using a siphoning kit and running the hose down the fill tube (that is if there is no screen or the filter isn’t in the way) and the filter is usually located on the bottom of the transmission inside the pan.

Basiclly,

You drop the pan and inside is the filter.
