Default Dodge Automatic problem

Have a 98 CTD with a 47 tranny, It's only a 12, but I love this truck.Tranny works great except when I let off the throttle to slow down, it feels like the tranny is in neutral. The RPM's drop down 500- 700 rpm from where it was cruising at.............anyone have any input? I'm wondering if where talking something that be fixed with a little work.or a total tear down......

Could just need a classic fluid filter change. Could be low level fluid either in the trans or flowing through the pickup filter.

I am beting on the torque converter tho...
