Default Four Wheel Drive is grabbing?

Hi I've been looking at some late 90's Dodge Ram 1500's . When i test drove most of the trucks i would put the truck in four wheel drive and it would be fine, but when i turned it would grab and the truck would kind of hop or shake. Is this normal or is this a common problem? Please Help!!

Normal, and if you continue to try to do this you will damage the truck. 4x4 should not be engauged on dry pavement, it is binding up. Since the wheels are being driven the wheels need to slip as one side is rotating more than the other when turning.
