Default acceleration problem

when i give a little bit of gas the truck normally accelerates... well on my way to work today i noticed that instead of moving faster, the engine just revs up as if the clutch is burnt or something. any clue as to what the hell is going on?

i have a 5 speed btw.

well if you have a MTX and you step on the gas and the RPM's go up and the spedo doesn't sounds like a clutch slippin to me. How old is the truck?

I am not 100% sure how your truck is, but it could be a cable hanging, bad throw out bearing, presure plate, clutch fingers, but it has something to do with the clutch.

so either way i'm going to need a new clutch? =\ i'm so screwed.
i found a luk repset one for $230 (any other non factory clutches out there that wont go out next time? heh), but labor's going to be a pain in the *** cause of the transfercase (4x4), figure $500 or so to have some garage do it?

RWD I know are easy, but I think 4X4 are a little more difficult, I would attemt it, but probally would take more than 2 hrs.

i took it to the dealership and they said i definately need a new clutch. they're also saying that the flywheel might be damaged. parts: $300 for clutch, $575 for flywheel. estimate $1500 if i need flywheel replaced. $80 an hour labor rate, i'm sorry but 8 hours for a dealership to replace a clutch? and 80/hr wtf, rip off.

what should i do? take it to a local garage or something?
