Valve covers for Magnum heads???
Does anyone know if you can use an old style (5 bolts) valve cover on Magnum (10 bolts) heads???
Just wondering because i was to but magnum heads on my pre-magnum motor and i just bought some new fabricated aluminum valve covers and i want to still use them.
Thanks

I'm not so sure the sealing surface is the same. DC switched to the 10 bolt because of the leaky 5 bolt design. I have recently seen some sturdy looking alum. valve covers from Mopar Performance and others for the 5 bolt LA heads.
They will fit, and if you use the new style gaskets will seal up pretty good. Are the aluminum valve covers cast, as in fairly thick at the flange area so they don't distort when you tighten the bolts? If so, they will seal up quite well.
I put Magnum heads on a 78 360 block, and plan on using the old style valve covers to "hide the evidence". The 360 is almost double the horsepower of the 318 it is replacing.
