Help with 2.4L
I'm looking at buying a new Jeep Wrangler with the 2.4L engine in it. It's the same as what's in the Stratus and some of the minivans...that's about all I know about it though.
Here's the problem...the people in the Jeep forums don't know much about this engine as it has just been added to the Jeep line in '03. Plus, most people buy the straight 6. I'm looking for any input you can give me about reliability, durability, and any common problems that you guys run into.
Thanks!

JG,
your honestly better off asking the PT Cruiser crowd, since they do have the N/A version of this motor, and have had it for a while. There are enough changes to the turbo version that I'm not sure our reliability data would really be useful. Heck, even the block is different for the turbo.

jeepguy - You've posted the same question in three different areas. I'm moving this to General Tech and removing the other duplicate posts. Please don't post the same post all over the forum... THANKS SO MUCH!!

It's a 4-banger and you're not gonna like it. Go with the 4.0L inline 6. Great engine, very durable and reliable, and parts are easy to find for modifications. I've driven a lot of wranglers with 4-cylinders, and they just don't have the nuts for the weight and aerodynamics of the vehicle.
