Default Synthetic vs Crude

I have a 2001 Intrepid with 44K miles, no leaks and runs great. I am thinking about starting to use a Synthetic Oil. Any suggestions on weather or not that is a good idea. If so, what brand synthetic is worth its weight?

On a side note, if I stay with Crude is one brand truly better than another?

THanks!

I never heard of using crude oil in a motor. .A lot of the newer oils already use synthetic with there base blends.especially 5w-30

I didn't really mean crude oil, I just mean the traditional (non-synthetic) oil. I wasn't sure if going pure synthetic after 44K miles was a good idea?

I don't think you will have a problem at 44,000. I would recomend Mobil 1.

I highly recommend the use of Mobil 1 over any and all other conventional and synthetic oils.

Gotta agree about the Mobil 1. I'm really interested in seeing more on this new formula, extended life, supersyn they have out now. Walmart has it $24 for 5 qts.
