94,000 miles and price is for the filter change only. Do you think I should go ahead and have the pump and assembly and regulator replaced? The dealer wants about $700 for that.
Can you still hear the pump running when it,the engine, stops running? If not, I would really consider changing the whole thing. $700 seems a bit steep. Did they suggest the entire assembly?

Cannot hear the pump run while moving or stalled. Left the key on and listened for the pump and heard nothing.
The dealer is lost as to what to do next.

Here's my reasoning for saying what I have.

Every dodge with an electric fuel pump I've ever owned, I could hear run, without any trouble.

If the screen filter is clogged, it wouldn't run worth a damn cold, hot, or whatever. Even if it sheds some of the debris that would clog the filter, it wouldn't run like it should. At least that has always been my experience with filter problems.

Just spoke with a friend who's a mechanic. He was telling me that they had some Jeeps where they had problems with the plastic were the tanks weren't cleaned out good and were clogging the screen. But he even though it would be a very remote chance that would be your problem.

Wouldn't be surprised to see a fuel pump going out. Dealer should be able to nail that down. Just drive the car with a pressure guage on it and watch the pressure. Pressure drops and car stalls=replace the pump and regulator asm.

It's a tough one to troubleshoot for them I'm sure for a couple reasons. They don't want to charge the customers for driving his car around for a couple hour to get the problem to occur again, and the don't want to dedicate a tech to driving the car around for hours.
