?? on lack of power
Hi to all.
I have a '99 quad cab 4 wheel drive with the 5.2 litre engine and 4 speed auto transmission. Question I need help with is that I have a hard time pulling a 2 horse trailer that is empty and it shouldn't have the hard time that it is. Gas consumption was astronomical while pulling and it also seemed to work very hard when it shouldn't have.
Any advice, ideas, troubleshooters out there would be greatly appreciated. Really love my Dodges, need this one to perform better.
Thanks in advance.
John

RE: ?? on lack of power
I have had better luck towing with the cruise control off.
You should also make sure you are not in OD.
But one thing that could be causing your trailer to be so hard to pull could be the trailer brakes.
Sounds like they could be rubbing or seized up.
Might even be some bad bearings.

Thanks for the replies.I checked the trailer and it"s gvw is 2266kg and I had just done the brakes. The truck and trailer seem to coast alright.I run the whole trip in drive.Maybe I am just used to a big block (440) I was thinking of doing the air intake and exhaust.Iwould also like to know a little more about the Hyper tech gizmo, and see if maybe a towing cam would help.Any suggestions are appreciated.
