Truck gets 9-10 mpg...'98 Ram 1500 5.3l 4x4 all stock. Whats the most effective way to increase my mileage and possiblly speed and power?

if your doin mods for gas savin puposes, your wastin your time and money....for power on the other hand...
theres plenty you could do.
Chips or Programmers
Intake
Exhaust
TB spacer
plenty of goodies for the engine u could do...just have to look.

 

im not sure if thats juss a typo but its a 5.2 liter engine


you might want to try letting it breath more and lettingo ut more air



so up grade the air intake and exhaust

 

with a dodge, try to lighten your foot

in my daytona, i went from 17 mpg to 21 mpg by simply driving the speed limit and accelerating much slower...

 

i realized the reason i was getting such crappy highway mileage was because i was doing 80mph the whole way. the rated mpg for my truck ('01 318 4x4 5 speed) is 13 street 17 highway. i get nowhere near 17 that's for sure... these trucks have no aerodynamics what so ever. it's like trying to use a lunchbox as a football, the air is going to drag it down considerably and the faster you go the more fuel it's going to use to maintain the rpm.

i put in cold air intake and new exhaust system. it helped a little, but i still stomp on the gas so it didn't help much, lol. my next move will be to get a fastman throttle body, the people here all swear by it.
