Check Engine Codes - 98 Intrepid
I'm getting the following 3 codes: P0700 (Transmission Control System Malfunction), P0732 (Gear to Ration Incorrect), P1784 (Manufacturer Control Transmission). The check engine light came on when I put the car from drive to reverse (I was stopped at the time). Seemed like the car would not shift at all, I did notice that the gear shift indicator on the dash was all lit up, even tho I was going forward and in drive, the indicator had all positions lit. If I would shift thru the gears, the indicator would not register the gear. So I turned the car off, then turned it back on and ALL seemed well and after a little while the check engine went out.. So I know I got a problem but not sure what these 3 codes really mean. Any help is appreciated.

Dodge has set up the second gen Intrepid to have what is called "limp Mode" . When the transmition droped down to a lower gear and apeared not to shift correctly you may have been in limp mode. I am not a Mechanic , But I have heared of the transmition control solenoid having intermitent problems or failing in these transmitions. If I had to make a guess I would suggest checking the TPS , MAP and Transmtion control Solenoid. The TPS controls the shifting on this car and the MAP tells the PCU what kind of load the car is under and thus also affects the shifting. Hope some of this helps
