Default vibration help please

I am at wits end with this vibration. I have a 2002 ram 4x4 quad cab with the 20 inch wheels and goodyear tires. the truck has 37,000 miles. Recently I replaced the tires when getting it inspected. At that point it had 34,800 miles.

I got the same goodyear hp tires since i was happy with the 34,000 miles on the first set.
I developed a vibration upon putting on the tires. I had them rebalanced 3 times at three different places. Eventually the tire store replaced the tires with a new set after 1,000 miles. Once again, vibration. Rebalanced again at 3 different places and still no luck.
I called goodyear and took it to an authorized goodyear tire center. they once again replaced all 4 tires after only 900 miles.
I watched them balance the tires and must say they took their time. I took it out and vibration again. I had them check front end parts and they claim everything looks ok.
It is at between 60 and 70 mph. Prior to replacing the tires i had no vibration at all.
They checked the wheels and found them to be within tolerances.
I took it to the local dodge dealer and because of ther milegae of course it is out of warranty. They want to make an appt. and bring it in to start replacing parts at my expense.

Anyone have any ideas? It just seems too coincidental that this vibration started when i replaced the tires. one guy suggested a driveshaft. how the hell do you check that?
Any help is appreciated.

I'll lay a $20 on the table and say the front drive shaft is out of ballance.

pull the drive shaft out and see if it does it then, if you have no vibration take the shaft to a drive line shop and they can reballance it for just about nothing. and while your at it depending on price get them to reballance the rear one as well. factory ballanceing on drive shafts sucks.

when ANY shop says they are gunna throw parts at it RUN!!!!!!

alot of things can cause vibration. if the vibration started after the replacement of the tires i would also start there. are the tires wearing flat? are the chopping at all? hows the pressure? an out of round rim, a bad batch of tires, each balancer is gonna be a little different in the way it balances a tire. i would try on last time at the original store or the one of your choice. when you go in ask the when the last time their balancers were calibrated, if its been a while ask them if they would calibrate them for you before they do your tires. if they do the calibration and the tires still ask for alot of weight ask them to match mount the tires on the rims (most balancer will do this for them) what it does is shift the heavy spot on the tire to the low spot on the rim and allow it to match the balance of two together with the minimal amount of weight thus giving you a better balance. if that doesnt help there is other roots to go. if they replaced the tires after 1000 miles i would see it as the tire being the problem. list the size model make and dot of the tire (on the sidewall of the tire) it will give some letters and 4 numbers it tell who where and what date the tire were produced and i will do some research and see if they have had any problems with that particular tire.

yup, pull it out. wont bother a thing.

it's an easy way to isolate a potential problem. If you still have the vibration there might be an alignment problem.

just as thump said though, there are the right ways and the wrong ways to mount a tire. when I was working in a shop many moons ago. I never knew anything about having the machine calibrated, so theres no telling if the ballancer is accurate or not and that could also cause a problem.

but I'm still looking at the drive shaft, the 60-70mph vibration is a known problem on the 2/3500 4x4's and not so much on the 1500's. but any time you have an object rotating there are vibrations no matter how well ballanced.

I had that happen to me one time on a Chevette. Only I got them to put the original tires back on.The vibration went away. Seems the new tires were no good.Try a different brand of tire Like BFGoodrich.
