97 Ram exhaust popping
My 97 Ram's exhaust is popping. It only does it after it has warmed up for a few minutes. I replaced the spark plugs, wires, and distributor cap and rotor. My fule pump is only 6 months old. I don't have any clue what's worng with it. Anybody out there have any ideas? I hate to just keep replacing parts until I fix it.
popping as in. . .you hear a metalic ping when you shut the engine off. . .Cat cooling off.
or when you let off the gas while moving. . .just normal engine noise of it slowing down.
if you have an aftermarket exhaust it will be more noticable since the pipes are freeier flowing.

Well the thing is that it doesn't start popping until after the truck warms up. It just started doing it all of a sudden. It gets worse the more gas you give it. I had just had the catalytic converter replaced a few months ago. Factory part. Cost me and arm and a leg. The rest of the exhaust is single pipe, stock system. The same one that came on the truck when it was new....don't really understand what's going on with the crazy thing.
